GO BACK TO THE ZOO

Go Back To The Zoo

Snow. So inconvenient sometimes. I went to the KABK/School of Arts today but I don't think The Hague has ever been this slippery. The school was so inspiring, but so big. I was dazzled when I came in but after I while I felt right at home. It was such an improvement comparing to the St. Lucas School in Boxtel.

After that, I attended a small performance of Go Back To The Zoo for That's Live, a Dutch radio show on 3FM. It was amazing! I really like their sound and I am impatiently waiting for their first album to come out! So if you have never heard of them, you definitely should listen Electric, Beam Me Up or Smokers On The Balcony. Though the audio above isn't from the performance, it's still a great acoustic version of 'Electric' in Amsterdam to give you an impression.

It was actually quite an accomplishment that I was in time because just an hour before the performance, I was still in The Hague and I had to take the train to Hilversum. And since it was still snowing, I was concerned the trains were delayed, or even worse...
But I was in time, even half an hour early actually!

Here are some pictures I made tonight.

DOWN IN AMSTERDAM

The 12th Amsterdam International Fashion Week returns this wednesday with the 2010 A/W-collection. For five days, Amsterdam will experience a whirlwind of new design. A well deserved boost of fashion-adrenaline in these cold and dreary days. Lose those mittens, my love, winterfashion has never been this hot!

WHEN I CAME TO IN AMSTERDAM
THE HOTEL SHOWED A MOVIE

Unfortunately, the official show programme is on invitation and for professionals only. So thank god for Fashion Week DOWNTOWN. This new part of the AIFW is open for public and gives all of us the great opportunity to see exhibitions, shows, parties and so much more. Personally, I'm thrilled to see that FOAM Photography Museum shows work of the young fashion photographer Mylou Oord. Also, MAISON DESCARTES presents a 52-minute French documentary about the creative mind behind Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld. I really hope I have time to go to Amsterdam this week, but I seriously doubt it, because I'm in the middle of a very important test-week at my school.

HARRY BENSON

This wednesday, I got myself a book with the works of one of my favourite photographers, Harry Benson. 'Once there was a way' contains pictures of the years that Benson worked with The Beatles. I really love it and everytime I flick through to book, I see new things. The pictures just never bore because they're so spontaneous, full of detail and well captured. Every single shot tells a story. To me, it was a great €28 investment!
